276 pets were spayed/neutered in Mexico thanks to you!
Early October, I organized a fundraiser in support of Riviera Rescue, a Mexican rescue I’ve been supporting since I visited them back in 2018. The fundraiser was a huge success, and these are the things your money helped with!
On October 23/24, Mateo and Riviera Rescue organized a big spay/neuter campaign in an undeserved community. This mayan village has a ton of stray animals, no veterinarian, and no resources. By spaying and neutering these animals, Riviera Rescue is going to make a huge impact and alleviate the suffering of all involved. It was heartwarming to see the line of people who showed up! A total of 276 animals were sterilized (+ vaccinated and dewormed), and 7 dogs received chemotherapy for TVTs (which is a cancerous, transmittable sexual disease).
Mateo was able to pay all his outstanding vet bills (over $3,000)
He is buying 2 months worth of food for the animals in his care.
This campaign is a first, very important step, in building trust in the community. It is important for people to witness these clinics, and see what a positive impact it has on their community and the animals. I am certain that next time, there will be even more people lining up!
