Viral ‘Pit Bull Flower Power’ Artist debuts new pieces in first West Coast Solo Show
Award-winning photographer Sophie Gamand explores the dynamic between dogs and humans in ‘The Invisible Wounds of Friendship’.
[Los Angeles, CA] - This October Sophie Gamand will debut never-before-seen pieces in her first West Coast solo show ‘The Invisible Wounds of Friendship’. The French award-winning photographer, multidisciplinary artist, and advocate will present new photographs, cyanotypes, embroideries, paintings, video installations, virtual reality as well as a curated collection of her most celebrated work.
In ‘The Invisible Wounds of Friendship’ Gamand explores the 15,000-year-old friendship between dogs and humans through the prism of consent and agency, and what it reveals about our own humanity.
Gamand shared, “My quest is to continue to challenge the way we treat dogs and ultimately uncover what this treatment reveals about our own humanity. With breeding and owning dogs come huge responsibilities. We claim dogs are our best friends, but are we really acting like theirs?”
To honor and continue her commitment to the rescue community, Gamand has partnered with The Annenberg PetSpace to host a dog adoption event in conjunction with her show taking place at The Naked Eye Studio in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 8th from 5 - 7 PM to celebrate ‘Adopt a Shelter Dog Month’ which takes place in October.
