Original cyanotype, xolotl
Original cyanotype, xolotl
Original Cyanotypes, made using a sun-reactive dye. Each print is unique. Scratches, creases, flaws are an integral part of this alternative and experimental process.

CARE INFO: frame ideally with a UV protective glass/acrylic, and do not hang in direct sunlight. Over time, direct sun will fade these prints.
The image is exposed to the sun, and the dye reacts, creating these beautiful, deep blue tones. Some of these prints were then bleached and toned with tea, coffee, or wine tannin. Each print is absolutely unique and will have many small imperfections, stains, and other flaws. This comes with the process and is totally normal. I’ve made the best efforts to represent their colors and subtle tones in these photographs, but as always, brightness and color variations between monitors could result in variations.
This image was inspired by the Aztec god Xolotl. He had the appearance of a dog, and was the twin of the Sun god. Every night, Xolotl accompanies the Sun in the underworld, guards it and uses it to light the path of the deceased as they journey to the afterlife. I thought it fitting, to collaborate with the sun to create these prints.
